Dear Friends:
As of Fall 2004 the Greater Phoenix Area Writing Project has been discontinued. This website will be temporarily maintained on a limited basis for informational purposes and so that you are able to access the resources provided. All the best to you in your teaching.
The Greater Phoenix Area Writing Project (GPAWP) was founded in the English Department at Arizona State University in 1978. GPAWP is part of the National Writing Project, a growing network of university-school programs based on the model of the original Bay Area Writing Project. Each year, approximately 85,000 teachers across the country participate in summer and school-year programs like those offered by the Greater Phoenix Area Writing Project

"The National Writing Project is a professional development project that goes beyond training teachers. Rather, it generates local and regional capacity in the form of highly skilled, motivated, and empowered teachers."--Mark St. John, Ph.D., Inverness Research Associates
