When hiring a Non-Resident Alien (any foreign worker), they MUST come to Office of Human resources PRIOR to their first of day of employment to complete their I-9 documentation and HR has adequate time to determine if they are authorized to work. The foreign worker is not to begin any work until ASU has received confirmation that the individual is authorized to work in the United States.
Foreign workers are issued one of several work visas depending on the nature of the employment including: H1B (skilled, professional worker), O-1 (extraordinary ability in the arts, sciences, education, athletics or business) , J1 (Exchange Visitor), or TN (Trade NAFTA skilled, professional workers from Canada or Mexico).
