Dr. Baker has published essays about Italian/American cinema and about the representation of social identity in sports films -- including in a volume that he edited entitled Out of Bounds: Sports, Media, and The Politics of Identity  (Indiana, 1997). He is also the author of Contesting Identities: Sports in American Film, published in 2003 by University of Illinois Press. He is currently completing a book on director Steven Soderbergh.
