The 2004 Ian Fletcher Memorial
Lecture features Steven Mailloux,
Professor of English and Comparative Literature and UCI Chancellor's
Professor of Rhetoric at the Univ. of California, Irvine. Mailloux
teaches courses in rhetoric, critical theory, and U.S. cultural
studies at UCI, where he is currently Director of the Critical
Theory Emphasis and a member of the Critical Theory Institute.
Before coming to UCI, Dr. Mailloux taught at Temple Univ.,
the Univ. of Miami, and Syracuse Univ. He is the co-editor
of Interpreting Law and Literature (1988) and editor
of Rhetoric, Sophistry, Pragmatism (1995) as well
as the author of Interpretive Conventions: The Reader in
the Study of American Fiction (1982), Rhetorical Power (1989),
and Reception Histories: Rhetoric, Pragmatism, and American
Cultural Politics (1998).
The lecture is open to the public.
