Bio

David A. Wallace is assistant professor of information at the School of Information, University of Michigan. His major areas of research include investigations into computerization of government records and its impact on federal recordkeeping.

Before joining the SI faculty, David served as a research assistant on a National Historical Publications and Records Commission grant assessing electronic recordkeeping functional requirements; as a research associate for information policy at the School of Information Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh; as a staff member to the U.S. Advisory Council of the National Information Infrastructure; and as a research associate at Archives and Museum Informatics. His dissertation examined an eight-year legal battle over the definition, control, and preservation of electronic mail messages created by the U.S. Executive Office of the President and the U.S. National Security Council (colloquially known as the “PROFS case”).
