Bio

John T. Phillips is a Management Consultant with Information Technology Decisions. This firm provides guidance, research, and decision support services for organizations addressing technology-induced records, document, and information management challenges. Over the last 25 years he has been a consultant, data systems project manager, computer research associate, librarian, and records manager in a variety of information resources management activities, working with such organizations as Lockheed Martin, Union Carbide, the Deparment of Energy, and the University of Tennessee. Areas of professional assistance delivered to these and other organizations include electronic recordkeeping systems, electronic document management systems, automated library systems, relational data base prototypes, information engineering studies, document imaging projects and other technology areas. He is a regular speaker at computer technology and information management conferences.

Mr. Phillips holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Tennessee Technological University and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Tennessee. He was the chair of the ARMA International Information Technology Committee for eight years, and is the author of the Software Directory for Automated Records Management Systems and a book on Organizing and Archiving Files and Records on Microcomputers. He also contributes editorials and articles to the Information Management Journal, the InfoPro magazine and The Repro Report, as well as other professional and trade journals. He conducts seminars and courses for professional associations, universities, and a variety of other organizations.
