There are two issues your advisor will address when
evaluating your transfer courses: transferability and
applicability.
Transferability refers to whether or not ASU will
award credit for the classes you've taken elsewhere. Where you
took the courses, the grades you earned, and the course content will
all factor into this decision.
Applicability refers to how your transferable
courses apply to your ASU requirements. As a No
Preference/Undeclared student, we will only address how your courses
apply to your University requirements. Once you select a major,
your courses will be evaluated a second time by your major
advisor. In both cases, be
prepared to provide additional information, such as course
descriptions or syllabi, as requested.
Your Certificate of Admission will tell you how many
credit hours are being transferred to ASU. You can also request
a DARS report to see which classes have been accepted, and how, if at
all, those courses have been applied to your requirements. To
request a DARS report:
- Go to ASU's Student
Online Services
- Select "Request/View
your Degree Audit (DARS) - For Undergraduates"
- Enter your ASURITE UserID and password
- Select "Request/View
Your Degree Audit (DARS)"
- Select campus and major--use "General
Studies" if you're not sure which major you want.
- Select catalog year
- Request audit and follow on-screen instructions
Keep in mind that we can only do an official
evaluation from official transcripts. Classes in
progress, or incomplete transcripts cannot be evaluated until final grades are posted and an
official transcript is sent to ASU.
