The
University General Studies requirement consists of 35 semester hours
divided into 5 core areas and 3 awareness areas. The core areas
are:
- Mathematical studies (MA and CS)
- Humanities and fine arts (HU)
- Social and behavioral sciences (SB)
- Natural sciences (SQ and SG)
- Literacy and critical inquiry (L)
The awareness areas are:
- Cultural diversity in the United States (C)
- Global awareness (G)
- Historical awareness (H)
Students must complete courses that satisfy each of
the three awareness areas. Courses that are listed for a core area and
one or more awareness areas may satisfy each of these requirements
concurrently.
