About the Distinguished Teaching Academy

Mission: The mission of the Distinguished Teaching Academy (DTA) is to foster and reinforce a culture of teacher-scholars committed to promoting teaching and learning excellence and to facilitate the enhancement, recognition and celebration of teaching and learning at ASU.

Initial Charge: The initial charge to the teacher-scholar members of the DTA is to advise the Executive Vice President and Provost of the University as to the scope, role and structure of the Academy. In executing this charge, members are asked to:

  1. assess what we currently do to enhance, recognize and celebrate teaching and learning;
  2. suggest programming and processes that will promote teaching and learning across the university;
  3. recommend strategies of securing external funding for teaching and learning activities and scholarship; and
  4. recommend a structure whereby the DTA can be the anchor for programming and activities that promote teaching and learning across the university.
