TABLE: UNDERGRADUATE_COMPETENCY

What is the Undergraduate Competency Table?
This table contains information on competencies for students who have applied for admission to the University. Students are required to meet competencies in six subject areas, English, Math, Foreign Language, Social Sciences, Lab Sciences, and Fine Arts. Fields indicate the semester the competency is met and the method used to meet the competency for each subject area.

What is the key (unique identifier for a row) for the Undergraduate Competency table?
The key for this table is the ASU ID.

What is the timing of the Undergraduate Competency Table?
This table is updated daily with changes from SIS.

Why would you use it?
Use this table to determine how many students were admitted and/or enrolled with deficiencies. It would usually be joined to either the Student Profile table for enrolled students or the Undergraduate Application table for applied students. It could also be joined to the Student table.

Why would you NOT want to use the Undergraduate Competency table?
This table will NOT show if the student has a deficiency and what subject area that deficiency is in.

What should you look out for?
The table will show if the student has a deficiency in a subject area but not how many credits or courses the student lacks. The met method may not indicate the first method or coursework to meet the competency but represents the first method entered into SIS. Always limit the Record On Sis flag to a Y to match to the most current SIS data.

How far back does data go (if historical)?
The data was first loaded into the warehouse in January 2002.
