What is the ASU
Data Warehouse?
The Data Warehouse is a read only database containing
integrated student, financial, and employee data for
use in decision support.
How
do I access the Warehouse data?
The Data Warehouse is accessed from your desktop computer
(either Windows-based or Macintosh) through ASU's
Ethernet network. Data can be viewed with the query
or database software such as Brio Query or Access.
The data can also be exported to other software, such
as Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, or WordPerfect.
Who
can access the information?
The Data Warehouse is available to university employees
for the purpose of performing their job.
What
types of information are stored in the Data Warehouse?
Presently, the Data Warehouse contains student, course,
and financial data. Additional data in the development
phase includes human resource affirmative action and
financial aid data.

enrollments, and grades
Expenditures from ADVANTAGE
Accounts
Graduations and degrees
Payroll Expenditures
Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions
Employees
Student Addresses and Demographics
Faculty ranks and titles
Census 21st Day Enrollment and SCH

What are the sources of data?
ASU's administrative databases (SIS,
ADVANTAGE,
HR) are
the sources of information stored in the Data Warehouse.
How
frequently is the information extracted?
The type of data determines the extract frequency.
Financial data are extracted daily. Payroll data is
extracted biweekly. Most student data is extracted
weekly. Certain student variables are updated daily
- admissions, names, addresses, phone numbers. Census
data are frozen at appropriate census dates.
