What
is the Other Hours Allowed
table?
The Other Hours Allowed
table indicates how many
hours a student may take
for classes that are outside
the recommended course list.
Setting these hours to less
than what is indicated on
the Maximum Hours Allowed
field will force a student
to take some of the courses
recommended by the instructor.
What
is the key (unique identifier
for a row) for Other Hours
Allowed?
Affiliate ID, semester,
and the maintenance date-time
is the key for the table.
What
is the timing of the table?
An entry is made into the
Other Hours Allowed Table
when the advisor creates
an Advising Requirement
record for a student. Additional
records may be created through
out the semester if the
advisor changes the number
of hours a student may take
for the semester. Once created
these records may not be
updated. No records may
be added for a semester
once the last processing
day for that semester has
passed.
Why
would you not use it?
The Mandatory Advising System
was created in 1991 so data
prior to this time does
not exist.
What
should you watch out for?
A student may have multiple
records of this type per
semester. There are flags
on the record which indicate
which record was the first
created for the semester
and which record is the
most current. In most cases
the student will only have
one record which will have
both flags set to Y.
