What
is the Maximum Hours Allowed
table?
The Maximum Hours Allowed
table contains information
about the number of hours
a student may take for a
semester. A student may
have several of these records
per semester. These records
are created by the advisor
during an advising session
with a student with a source
of 'O'. Another way a record
may be created for a student
is by use of an override
given to the student during
on-line registration. These
records will have a sign
off source code of 'O'.
What
is the key (unique identifier
for a row) for Maximum Hours
Allowed?
Affiliate ID, semester,
and the maintenance date-time
is the key for the table.
What
is the timing of the table?
An entry is made into the
Maximum Hours Allowed Table
when the advisor either
prepares for or advises
a student through MACS.
Additional records may be
created through out the
semester if the number of
hours a student may take
for the semester is changed.
Once created these records
may not be updated. No records
may be added for a semester
once the last processing
day for that semester has
passed.
Why
would you not use it?
The Mandatory Advising System
was created in 1991 so data
prior to this time does
not exist.
What
should you watch out for?
A student may have multiple
records of this type per
semester. There are flags
on the record which indicate
which record was the first
created for the semester
and which record is the
most current. In most cases
the student will only have
one record which will have
both flags set to Y.
