TABLE : CLASS RUNNING TOTALS

WUG March 1995

What is the Class Running Totals table?
This table captures current information about a class such as enrollments (pre registration versus on-line), class capacities, requested seats, and override counts by type. It is frozen at the end of the semester so historically, it is an end of the semester look at the classes for that semester.

What is the key (unique identifier for a row) for Class Running Totals?
Semester and SLN .

What is the timing of the table?
This table is updated weekly until the last day of classes when it is frozen.

Why would you use it?
The primary use of this table is to look at enrollments in classes either currently as registration progresses or historically to see what enrollments were at the end of the semester rather than on the 21st day. This information would be useful in studying class demand. A record is not created in this table until there is attempted enrollment in the class. If a class is closed the enrollment is set to zero.

Why would you NOT want to use it?

Don't use this table if you need to match to "official" census information. To get census class information use the Class table. (Both are the same however until the 21st day.) Also, don't use this table if you are trying to see what classes are planned for a new semester. Classes may be set up on the SIS but will not appear in this table unless someone enrolls in the class.

What should you watch out for?
As is generally true in the Warehouse, the records are never removed even if the SIS record that created the Warehouse record is removed. Classes that are removed from the SIS will still be present.
