TABLE: CLASS MEETING TIME ASSIGNMENT

WUG March 1995

What is the Class Meeting Time Assignment table?
This table contains current information on the assignment of instructors to classes. (Who's teaching what.) It also shows the department that controls the class. The Class Meeting Time Assignment table is frozen at the end of the semester. This table has many multiple records - separate records are created if two or more instructors are teaching, if the class is a variable credit hour class and there are registrations for different numbers of hours, and if a class has multiple meeting times.

What is the key (unique identifier for a row) for Registered Student?
Semester, SLN, Number of Hours Taught, and Instructor Number

What is the timing of the table?
This table is updated weekly until the last day of classes when it is frozen.

Why would you use it?
This table was originally designed to support faculty workload studies. It will be more useful when instructor ID can be linked to an instructor name.

Why would you NOT want to use it?
Because you hate multiple records and don't want to have anything to do with them : )

What should you watch out for?
The multiple records are necessary if you want to get to faculty workload. At present, you can get instructor Affiliate ID but not name. (Hopefully coming soon.)

As is generally true in the Warehouse, the records are never removed even if the SIS record that created the Warehouse record is removed. Classes that are removed from the SIS will still be present.

The data that is collected from departments after the semester starts regarding workload is not yet included but is planned to be in the future. Information from Class Maintenance forms IS included.
