TABLE: CLASS
WUG February 1995

What is the CLASS table?
The class table contains one record for each SLN that exists or has existed in the SIS.

What is the key (unique identifier for a row) for CLASS?
Semester and SLN

What is the timing of the table?
Each time a class is entered into the SIS by processes such as class maintenance forms, class skeleton development etc. a record is created for that SLN class. This table is updated weekly until the 21st day. The CLASS table is frozen on the 21st day. This table needs a RECORD_NO_LONGER_ON_SIS flag to get current class section lists. (Hopefully coming soon!)

Why would you use it?
You could use this table to get the class title attached to a students registration. You could study demand for the class or find closed classes. You can identify TV classes (IITP), evening classes and can determine the funding campus code to identify extension and/or west funded classes.

Get a summary of information about a class.

What should you watch out for?
Class titles may be blank for things like ENG 101 which has a course title of Freshman English but no class title. The CLASS table doesn't have current enrollment counts after the 21st day. Variable credit classes have maximum and minimum hours. You won't know how many hours are enrolled in for these classes unless you look at an individual persons registration in STUDENT_CLASS.
