What
is the Advisement Requirements
table?
The Advisement Requirements
table contains information
about the reason a student
needs to be advised and
the location the student
should go to be advised.
In addition the record contains
the student campus, college,
degree, and major codes
at the time the record was
created. A student may have
more than one of these records
only if the advising requirements
have changed prior to the
student being advised or
if the student changes colleges.
What
is the key (unique identifier
for a row) for Advisement
Requirements?
Affiliate ID and semester
is the key for the table.
What
is the timing of the table?
An entry is made into the
Advisement Table when the
student is notified advisement
is required. A record may
also be created if an advisor
records any information
used or to be used in an
advising session. Another
reason a record may be created
is when the student has
changed colleges. The information
for a semester will not
be updated once the last
processing day for that
semester has passed.
Why
would you use it?
Use the Advisement table
to identify students that
have the same Advising Requirement
for a semester for scheduling
advising sessions.
Track
students to see how they
have been advised throughout
their college career.
What
should you watch out for?
A student may have more
than one record per semester.
There are flags on the record
that indicate whether this
is the first record for
the semester or the most
current.
The
Mandatory Advising System
was created in 1991 so data
prior to this time does
not exist.
