Course Description and Objectives

This course will introduce students to strategies, formats, and techniques of presenting information to business and other workplace audiences.

On completion of this course, students will be able to:

Course Requirements

This semester you will role play as CEO of a company or organization of your choice. You will complete all the activities, exercises, and assignments in this role. Read the Course Introduction for more information.

All assignments are expected to be completed on time. See course evaluation section below for information on grading and Blackboard for information on assignments and due dates. Attendance and class participation is expected. Several activities and assignments will be completed in class.

The text is available in the bookstore. Be sure to purchase the 7th edition.

All assignments are to be completed and turned in by the due date listed in the Schedule section of Blackboard. Late assignments will not be accepted for any reason other than family or medical emergency. If you cannot complete an assignment on time, contact me in advance of the due date.

Throughout this course, you will be composing documents for a variety of audiences and purposes. Your writing should at all times be professional and consist of proper tone, style, formatting, language, and grammar.
