In this four credit-hour course the participants have hands-on experiences ranging from the use of optical microscopes, to observations of the hydrogen spectrum. Throughout the course the participants work with home activities and the Internet to understand basic concepts in science including the nature of light, color, and microscopy.

Goals for the course:

  • Students are expected to feel at ease with Science

  • Increase proficiency of the participants in:
    1. Experimentation
    2. Scientific Method
    3. Science concepts

  • Students are expected to become comfortable with Technology

  • Students will use:
    1. Computers
    2. Internet access
    3. Optical and Scanning Electron Microscopes
    4. Basic and Laboratory Science Kits

  • Students will gain increased understanding of science and technology
