History of Probability

Objectives:

Determine what fraction of a deck of cards a certain set of cards describes.
Determine how many of a certain type of card is in a deck.
Determine the number of times two heads, two tails, and one head and one tail will come up when two coins are tossed.

Possible Classroom Examples:

How many spades are in a deck of cards? What fraction of a deck is spades?

How many queens are there in a deck of cards? What fraction of a deck is queens?

Flip a pair of coins 20 times.

Approximately how many times do you think a pair of tails will come up?
