When motor neurons malfunction, different kinds of symptoms can result. These include:

  • muscle weakness

  • cramping

  • twitching

  • stiffness

  • slowness of movement

  • tightness

All of these symptoms may occur, but not necessarily at the same time, and not to the same degree in each muscle. Some muscles may be stiff and tight, while, at the same time, others may become weak and soft. (1)(8)
