In an effort to raise awareness, nonprofits in the state plan to enter into a statewide alliance.

On Feb. 24, the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits will officially launch its efforts to enhance the well-being of the people and communities in the state by serving, supporting, protecting and promoting Arizona 's nonprofit sector.

Organizations supporting the birth of the Alliance include the Arizona Community Foundation and the Arizona State University Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management , through its strong partnership with the Kellogg Foundation .

Their collective investment includes three years of seed funding and active partnerships in the success of the new organization.

The Phoenix launch event is planned for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Heard Museum.

Similar events are planned for Tucson and Flagstaff in March.

Some of the companies and nonprofits helping support the alliance include: Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC), Salt River Project, The Weitz Co., Mayo Clinic, Arizona Community Foundation, ASU's Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management, and the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona.
