Lodestar seeks nonprofit leaders for academy
Phoenix Business Journal - by Sarah Macdonald

Nonprofit leaders looking for training or experience can submit applications to be a part of Lodestar Center's third Generation Next Leadership Academy.

The academy is a nine-month course designed to help nonprofit leaders manage and build their organizations. The monthly meetings will feature university professors and established nonprofit leaders speaking about topics ranging from networking to funding and media coverage on local, national and international fronts.

The program costs $695 and some scholarships are available. Although the program targets Valley leaders, others may apply.

Laura Capello, manager of special projects for the Lodestar Center, said the program will help local leaders with challenges unique to nonprofits.

“The biggest benefit is that you can meet people who support the nonprofit community and get hands on experience,” Capello said. “The benefits happen as you go through the program.”

Applications can be found online at http://www.asu.edu/copp/nonprofit/asst/asst_generation_next and must be submitted by June 14. Winners will be announced April after a review process involving organizations such as the Arizona-Indiana-Michigan Alliance and a final selection by a panel chaired by the president and CEO of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
