Three Required Courses:

  • Historical and Philosophical Foundations of the Nonprofit Sector in America (NLM 510)-Fall
  • Volunteer and Human Resource Management for Nonprofit Organizations (NLM 540) - Fall
  • Fiscal Management in Nonprofit Organizations (NLM 520) - Spring
Two Electives - Options offered:
  • Nonprofit Leadership and Ethics (NLM 591) - Fall
  • Program Evaluation and Information Management (NLM 598) - Spring
  • Philanthropy: Theory and Practice in Nonprofit Organizations - Spring
  • Practicum (NLM 580) or Self Directed Study (NLM 590) -TBA
  • You may select a related course and petition to have it included as and elective

Eligibility: Criteria for admission to the graduate certificate program include a completed undergraduate degree and the equivalent of two-years of full-time experience in the nonprofit sector. This certificate is available to all ASU graduate students irrespective of their majors. Students not currently enrolled in a degree program at ASU may also be a part of the certificate program. Combine with related Masters Degree: If you are enrolled or considering a Master’s degree you can take these courses while earning your degree. Check with your major advisor, but we have had students from Recreation Management, Public Affairs, Business Administration and others who have taken classes to earn the certificate while getting their Master’s.
