Q: What is the difference between Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E. and R.E.S.C.U.E. at ASU?
Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E. is the organization that actually "rescues" the dogs and cats from the pound. The pound now recognizes the value of the work R.E.S.C.U.E. does and gives R.E.S.C.U.E. all the animals that they can take care of. For more information about Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E., please see their website. R.E.S.C.U.E. at ASU. is the on-campus affiliate of Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E. We fundraise for Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E. and spread awareness about the high rate of dog and cat euthanasia in Maricopa County and the need for better pet-owner responsibility to improve the lives of cats and dogs everywhere and lower these numbers in the future.

Meetings are generally used for the organizing and planning of our upcoming club events.
Q: What kinds of events has R.E.S.C.U.E. at ASU organized in the past?
We have organized food sales (with Krispy Kreme donuts, bagels, muffins, cookies, soda, Snapple, water, etc.), awareness-spreading / fundraising events such as our Sponsorship Drives and Awareness Weeks, and fundraiser dinners at Sweet Tomatoes. For some of these events, we bring dogs on campus who are currently in the R.E.S.C.U.E. system. Other events include taking a group of R.E.S.C.U.E. dogs to a local dog park to give them a break from their kennels. For this semester's planned events, please see our Upcoming Events.
Q: Where does R.E.S.C.U.E. get its animals?

All of Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E.'s animals are saved from the euthanasia list at the pound and are all adoptable. Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E. does not accept animals from the public.

Q: How much does it cost for R.E.S.C.U.E. to take care of their animals?

It costs about $40 per month per animal. This covers housing, food, toys, supplies (litter boxes, beds, etc.), medical expenses, and whatever else the animal may need.

Q: Where does R.E.S.C.U.E. keep its animals?

Many of the animals are taken care of by volunteer foster parents, also some of R.E.S.C.U.E.'s dogs are housed in donated space by pet hotels, and most of R.E.S.C.U.E.'s cats stay at its donated Feline Care Center. R.E.S.C.U.E. used to have some animals in local Petsmarts, but they no longer do that because of their emphasis on finding a compatible home for all animals. R.E.S.C.U.E. is in the process of planning a new universal facility/pet education center for all of their animals and activities.

Q: How can I adopt?

Visit the Arizona R.E.S.C.U.E. website and all of the available animals can be seen there with full biographies and photos. There is an application to fill out and then you will be contacted by a RESCUE MatchMaker to set up an appointment. The adoption fee is $95 for cats and $125 for dogs. All of the cats are spayed or neutered and have tested negative for feline AIDS and feline leukemia. All of the dogs have also been spayed or neutered, received their rabies vaccine and have been licensed with the county.
