Best Buddies Arizona

Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment.

A person with an intellectual disability is one who, from childhood, develops at a below average rate. As a consequence, the person experiences unusual difficulty in learning and is relatively ineffective in applying whatever he/she has learned to the problems of ordinary living.

In addition to the traditional campus-based volunteer activities, and for those with limited personal time, Best Buddies helps people with intellectual disabilities connect with others through technology with its online friendship program, e-Buddies.

  • A Bone Marrow Donor Recruitment Drive will be held on campus late this fall or early next spring. This is a joint project with the ASU Center for Biology & Society to address the need for more Bone Marrow donors. The drive would require donors to give a small blood sample which would then be used in tissue typing and the donor
would be added to the national network. They would like some volunteers to pass out flyers and answer donor questions on the day of the drive. Contact Harvey at (480) 703-0330 if you're interested.
