City of Phoenix Head Start Program
Volunteers needed to help conduct a
community assessment as part of a federal refunding application.
Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from
low-income families. The City of Phoenix Head Start program strives
to support the whole child while offering individualized learning
opportunities in a safe and healthy learning environment.
The purpose of the Community
Assessment identifies community strengths, needs, and
characteristics that in turn drive the goals and services of the
Head Start program. Over a three-month period we will be collecting
information from and about our community using census data, surveys,
interviews and focus groups.
We are asking for volunteers to be
facilitators and recorders for focus groups, conduct interviews and
help process the results. There is no experience necessary, only the
desire to work with a variety of populations and be part of a
process that leads to giving children a healthy start in life..
