There are 8 core positions (Officers) in charge of the maintenance of the chapter. There are over 20 different non-core positions (Representatives) which represent AMSA's Action Committees and Interest Groups. The core positions are very demanding of time and energy while the non-core positions are only required to attend Action Committee Meetings. AMSA-Internship in Clinical Practice Program (ICP):

The AMSA-ICP is a program which provides undergraduate and graduate students with an interdisciplinary approach to clinical research. Its purpose is to serve as a premedical/pre-health experience that relates to the student's professional goals and preparation for higher education in medicine and medical research.

Summer Medical and Dental Education Program A six week program for students dedicated to becoming physicians. Applications are available online: www.smdep.org.

The Maricopa Summer Undergraduate Research Fluency Program A volunteer program that allows premedical students an opportunity to become fluent in the conduct of clinical research projects. For more information, email SURF@medprodoctors.com for an application.

ASU Pre-health Internship The Pre-health Internship (BIO394E) is a course developed to provide clinical experience to pre-health professional students who are exploring their career options. For more information, visit the ASU Pre-health Professions Office or the AMSA Officers.

Hospice Volunteer Program Hospice is a special concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. Hospice care neither prolongs life nor hastens death. Hospice staff and volunteers offer a specialized knowledge of medical care, including pain management. FACES Migrant Health Education Program A project coordinated by pre-health students which organizes health screenings for medically underserved rural and urban communities in Maricopa County, Arizona. For more information, contact a FACES or AMSA Officer: ASU.AMSA@gmail.com .

Special Olympics Volunteer Program The Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to more than one million people with intellectual disabilities in more than 150 countries. Ask Gail Gilmartin( gailg@soaz.org ), Volunteer Coordinator for the Special Olympics of Arizona, for information on how you can get involved or ask an AMSA officer for a SOAZ Volunteer Application.
