2005 School Club Roundup Results

Another School Club Roundup has passed. While we had fun as always, our members had a particularly hard time getting their schedules to align for operating purposes. As a result, we operated a record-low number of hours this year. While our score has suffered -- we'll be submitting an all-time low score, just a few 1000 points short of last year's score -- we feel it is a respectable score considering the short amount of time we worked and current propagation conditions.

The week was also excellent for recruiting. We encountered a large number of people interested in amateur radio, about half of which were already licensed! Perhaps amateur radio is undergoing a new surge of interest? We certainly hope so. Altogether we successfully recruited nine new members, many of whom we hope to see at our next event.

As always, thanks to all the club members who helped with this contest. A special thanks to KC7KFF for loaning us their antenna, and the new SSV Building Manager Patrick O'Rourke for accomodating us with space for the week. Also, thanks to all the SSV employees who dropped by to see what we were doing (turns our many of them are hams!). Some have seen us at this location for years and always wondered what we were doing. We haven't met a person from this building yet who isn't kind and cheerful to us!
