Welcome to W7ASU, the Amateur Radio Society at
Arizona State University. The club is focused on using and promoting
ham radio
and the surrounding activities in the college environment. After being stationless
for more than 20 years, as of February 2010, W7ASU has set up
a ham radio shack located on university property. Although the club
has a very limited budget and many boat anchors for equipment, we still try to
participate in several club activities during the semester. Events vary based on club
member interests, but
past activities have included collecting fares at local hamfests (fundraising!),
participating in public service events, contesting, offering licensing classes,
and educating the public about ham radio.

Cheering for Amateur Radio
|
We like to consider this photo as proof that "Chicks dig amateur radio!" While gathering before
the upcoming football game, a group of ladies from the
ASU Sun Devil Dance Team
stopped by to watch W7ASU operate in the 2004 Collegiate QSO Party. No doubt impressed by
our smooth (contest) operating techniques, we expect these ladies will be licensed in the
near future. We just can't wait until they join our club!

As ex-club member KK7KX once said, "Chicks dig amateur radio!" Turns out he was right!
