President

President of AIDS HOPE.

hometown: Tucson, Arizona. academics: Secondary Education with an emphasis in Biology.
Elise is a junior is Secondary Education with an emphasis in Biology. She hopes to teach middle school or high school Biology once she graduates in May 2008. She has been working with AIDS H.O.P.E. since spring 2006 and became the president in spring 2007. She will be traveling to Africa in summer 2007 with Students for International Change to work in Tanzanian schools teaching prevention and education regarding HIV. She feels her involvement with AIDS H.O.P.E. at ASU has been beneficial to the community as she feels it is important for those who choose to be sexual active to have accessible and correct sexual health information.

Treasurer

Katrina has been involved in aidsHOPE for almost a year and loves it! She has learned just exactly how important to others networking and sharing knowledge about the aids epidemic and sexual health are. She is a public relations major in theDepartment of Business and hopes to continue to contribute substantially to her community and society as a whole. She has dreams of opening a yogurt shop in Costa Rica.

David Bell



Public Relations

I am originally from Ohio. I have now been in Arizona for more than twelve years. My background includes Real Estate, Securities, and Business Management. I am a senior level returning adult re-entry student. I am majoring in Real Estate, Finance, and Housing & Community Development. In the past, I have worked with numerous HIV/AIDS community service organizations. Since transferring to ASU, I have participated with the AIDS H.O.P.E. student organization. I enjoy taking part in helping the organization to educate the student population to prevent the spread of HIV/Aids and other Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Alfonso



Education Officer

My name is Alfonso and I am currently a junior with a dual major in Political Science (concentrating in International Studies) and Sociology (with a concentration in Diversity Issues). I joined aidsHope with the expectation of learning more about sexual health, aids/hiv and health education. I plan on joining the Peace Corps upon graduation. My future plans include an M.A. in either Counseling or Social Work and employment as a drug rehabilitation counselor.

Freddy Roman , M.P.H.E.



Assistant Director

Freddy has worked at ASU for 13 years and with Wellness and Health Promotion for 10 years, where she coordinates the Sexual Health Promotion Program. Before coming to ASU, she worked in the field of Community Health and Medical Anthropology on various grant-funded projects based at the Hispanic Health Council in Hartford, Connecticut, Johns Hopkins University, Rotary International Foundation, the University of New Mexico and the University of California in Hayward. She is the advisor to the AIDS HOPE Student Organization and a mentor to the Maroon and Gold Scholarship Program. She received her B.S. in Social Work and M.S. in Public Health Education at the University of Puerto Rico.
