Member Requirements

A Chapter Member is a student who has completed their pledge requirements AND has been inducted into AED, but is not yet a National Member because they have not completed 45 credit hours. Chapter members pay an annual membership fee of $10 and must complete 30 hours or more of community service (15 of which must be from an AED event or sponsored event). Chapter members must also attend 3 AED meetings and 2 socials throughout the school year.

When pledge/member packets are due in the Spring (April), the following should be included for Chapter Members:

1) A Member Information Sheet.

2) Community Service form with 30 hours completed (15 from AED events) and contact information.

3) $10 annual member fee (check made out to Alpha Epsilon Delta )

3) A copy of the students most recent semester grades verifying that they have BOTH A CUMULATIVE AND SCIENCE GPA ABOVE 3.2.

5) Verification of attendance at 3 meetings (which will be verified by the Secretary and it is imperative that each member signs in at each meeting). 6) 5) Verification of attendance at 2 socials (which will be verified by the Secretary and it is imperative that each member signs in at each social).

***Each piece of paper in the packet should have the member's name on it in case it is separated from the other papers. All documents can be found on the document page of the AED section of MyASU webpage. Please staple your packet together!***

*NOTE: As soon as members meet the requirements for National Membership, it is strongly suggested that they apply for Nationals. Medical schools can only verify National Membership, NOT Chapter Membership. You must be a National Member before you can list AED on your resume or application. This is very easy for medical schools to verify.

*Chapter members not in good standing with the local chapter (verified community service hours, dues and attendance) will not be eligible to apply to Nationals.

*ALL CHAPTER MEMBERS COMPLETING THEIR ANNUAL REQUIREMENTS WILL BE INVITED TO THE END-OF-YEAR BANQUET IN APRIL TO RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.

National Member Requirements

A National Member has completed the pledging process and has been inducted into the AED ASU Chapter. Such members must have completed 45 semester hours or more and also have BOTH SCIENCE AND CUMULATIVE GPAs of 3.2 or better. Once these requirements are met, the student applies through the National AED Office by filling out the application available on the web and then turning in the form to the treasurer along with a lifetime National membership fee of $50. This form can also be found on Blackboard under "Documents". Once received by AED Nationals and a National Packet including Membership Card is sent back, this member is now a Nationally recognized member of Alpha Epsilon Delta and logged into the National AED database. Applying for national membership must be done after completing 45 credit hours.

*National members still pay the annual ASU chapter membership fee of $10 and must still complete the requirements for membership.

In the spring (April), National Members must still turn in the following to the local chapter:
1) Member Information sheet.
2) Community Service form verifying 30 hours of service(15 from AED events) and including contact information.
3) $10 membership fee (checks made out to Alpha Epsilon Delta).
4) Verification will be made by the chapter Secretary that the member has attended at least 5 AED events.

*Make sure each paper in the packet has your name on in in case papers get separated.

*NOTE: Chapter Members are not National Members until they have received their National Packet and appear on the National Batch Report.

National Members are eligible for a National Scholarship.
