Prospective Member FAQ

What is ABLA?

ABLA stands for Asian Business Leaders Association. We are a student organization at ASU under the Asian Pacific Coalition and Business School Council, which serve as our umbrella organizations. ABLA is committed to preparing useful seminars, creating networks, facilitating friendships, and empowering future business leaders.

What does ABLA do?

We host a variety of events including club meetings, social activities, and special events. Club meetings usually consist of a lecture or seminar by a guest speaker on topics ranging from internships to global business etiquette. Afterwards, members get to enjoy pizza, drinks and an opportunity to mix and mingle. Social activities usually take place on weekends and give our members a chance to meet each other and make new friends. For off campus events, we arrange car pools for transportation. Our special events allow our members to meet people from other ASU organizations and frequently consist of some friendly competition with them. ABLA also occasionally coordinates volunteer activities within the Phoenix community and encourages its members to volunteer.

I am not Asian and I am not a business student. Can I still join ABLA?

Yes, you can definitely join! ABLA encourages students of all ethnic backgrounds and all majors to join ABLA in hopes of developing well-rounded individuals.

Why should I join ABLA?

If you are a motivated and professionally oriented student who would like to prepare for your professional career, then ABLA is the club for you. ABLA hopes to develop future leaders through workshops on topics such as resume-writing skills, interviewing skills, career path management, and networking. ABLA is also a valuable resource for anyone interested in Asia’s growing role as a leader in the global economy.

When can I join ABLA?

Anytime during Fall or Spring semester. There is no deadline for membership - simply attend our next upcoming meeting.

How do I become a member?

Students are free to attend ABLA as an unofficial member at all times. If you would like to become an official ABLA member, we are accepting official membership registration fees of $10.00/semester at all times. Feel free to ask any ABLA executive officers for an application and payment method.

Why should I become an Official ABLA member?

ABLA provides its official members with valuable networking tools and information to arm them for success such as internship/job opportunity announcements, scholarship announcements, company and speaker contacts, as well as company tours. We also provide official members with an ABLA polo shirt and free pizza following every meeting.

How often does ABLA meet?

ABLA meets every other Thursday from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. However, the dates of meetings might vary.
