This was ABLA’s third meeting of the Spring 2008 Semester.  During this meeting, ABLA members had the opportunity to hear from guest speakers from Countrywide Financial Corporation. Countrywide’s guest speakers included Mr. James A. Thompson – VP Strategic Communication, and Ms. Sandra Quilantang – Senior Recruiter.

Mr. James A. Thompson – VP Strategic Communication
Mr. Thompsons led a discussion on Career Path Management. The discussion was framed around his personal professional journey which led to his current career with Countrywide Financial (recently acquired by Bank of America). As VP of Strategic Communication he has worked extensively with Countrywide’s leaders by utilizing his skills as a professional writer. On the path to success and managing one’s career he stressed a healthy balance between a hard work ethic and emotional satisfaction.

Ms. Sandra Quilantang – Senior Recruiter
Ms. Quilantang’s discussion was framed around marketing oneself to companies through generating an efficient and professional resume. The main themes she touched upon were professional tone of writing, different types of efficient layouts, methods for brainstorming resume content, and active “buzz words” for describing ones job duties.
