ABBA meeting minutes, Friday March 4, 2005

 

 

I. Call for Work: Hayden Library Exhibit, organized by Kjel Alkire and Ashlee Weitlauf and Aaron

   Cohick

¯     ABBA will be showing work in the glass cases on the first floor of Hayden Library in April.

Please contact Kjel (kjellgren.alkire@asu.edu) or Aaron (newlightpress@hotmail.com) if you have suggestions for an exhibition title.

¯     If you would like to include 1-3 pieces of you work in this exhibit, email Kjel by March 11th.

¯     Participants will be contacted by Kjel regarding further details.

 

             

II.  Joe DÕAmbrosio Clamshell workshop and lecture

¯     Saturday April 9th and Sunday April 10th 2005 9-5pm in the type shop.

¯     The fee is $35 for ABBA members, $80 for nonmembers (price includes supplies)- checks can be left in MengÕs box in the Art Office.  (wei.foo@asu.edu)

¯     Registration and payment deadline: March 11, 2005

       At this time the workshops are full- Please let Katherine know if you do not plan to attend so

III. Visiting Artists: APRIL 15th at 12:30 in the type shop

¯     T.BAG- Tucson Book Arts Guild, will be at ASU to visit ABBA, for an informal sharing of artists books.  Afterwards, T.BAG and ABBA members will gather for lunch at Restaurant Mexico.  If you would like to share work and/or come to lunch please RSVP with Katherine so she can make reservations.  ABBA members are welcome to come look at work even if they do not wish to show. 

 

IV. Southern Graphics Council: Open Portfolio

¯     Katherine Nicholson will be presenting work from the ASU printmaking department and ABBA at the SGC conference in Washington DC this month.  Please contact her if you are interested in this opportunity.

¯     Work must be given to her before spring break.  (She will be available in the type shop March 10th 9-10:30am)

¯     Please bring work that can be handled.

¯     Label your piece with your name, printing process and contact information. If your work is for sale, also submit price info.

 

V. Fall funding

¯     We are in the process of obtaining funding through the SORC for ABBA.  The application will be due the week of March 28th.
