Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos!

Dear Colleague,

Please accept our invitation to become a part of the Chicano/Latino Faculty & Staff Association (CLFSA) of Arizona State University. Founded in the fall of 1970, CLFSA’s mission is to enhance the welfare of all residents of Arizona and to promote the education and advancement of the Chicano/Latino community.

CLFSA meets regularly with the President and university leaders to offer our ideas about institutional diversity. Ongoing efforts include advocacy for faculty and staff, awarding of scholarships, and recognition of the achievements of Chicano/Latino students, staff, and faculty.

CLFSA promotes networking and collegiality among all ASU Chicano/Latino faculty and staff, irrespective of whether employment was a recent event or decades ago. In addition, CLFSA members engage in extensive outreach to incoming and future Sun Devils, provide service to the broader community, and work passionately to ensure that the University is a welcoming place to all.

CLFSA meets once a month – the first Wednesday from Noon to 1:00 PM at the Memorial Union on the ASU Tempe campus, unless otherwise noted. These meetings typically feature a speaker(s) on current topics of interest to the membership, updates on special projects and operations of the Association, and announcements by your peers. Recent projects have included scholarships, support of Chicano/Latino families and a forum on immigration issues.

Become a part of this active organization. Attend meetings, nominate an awardee, and/or suggest a project. Your voice and participation is important in building a stronger Chicano/Latino community at ASU.  Membership dues are $20 annually: however, we are delighted to offer a 1-year COMPLIMENTARY CLFSA membership to faculty and staff who are new hires to ASU for the current academic year. So, take the first step and join!

Arizona State University is a growing and dynamic institution. We invite you to join CLFSA in addressing current and future concerns involving the Chicano/Latino community at ASU and in Arizona. Together we will work to shape and address our future, discover solutions, and promote familia entre todos.

Sinceramente,

Paul Espinosa, CLFSA President
Kevin J. Salcido, CLFSA Staff Liaison
Edward Escobar, CLFSA Faculty Liaison
