OBJECTIVES

The work of the Institute is organized around five topic areas including (a) AT use, (b) policy and resources, (c) decision making and practices, (d) training and support and (e) dissemination and products. In order to address these five topic areas, TnT's research agenda includes:

- Examining the potential for well-timed AT devices and services to contribute to children's learning and participation within the activities and routines of natural settings,

- Identifying critical factors, singularly or in combination with other factors, associated with positive outcomes for families and their infants and toddlers and

- Translating research outcomes and results to primary consumers (i.e., families of infants and toddlers) and secondary consumers (Early Intervention service providers).

Methodology:

The Institute's research program utilizes a multi-sample, multi-method approach designed to yield quantitative as well as qualitative data. This multi-method approach enables our researchers to examine issues and research questions at varying levels of depth and scope. Data collection activities include surveys, interviews, focus groups, review of written documents, case studies, observations, action research protocols, and experimental investigations.
