Why is USS important?
The project is designed to better understand what helps
children be successful in school. The USS project looks
at the important people in a child's life, and how relationships
with these people help them excel. With parents, teachers,
children and researchers working together in USS, we can
learn ways to help our children transition into elementary
school!
Do you really need me? What if I do not want to continue
my participation in the USS Project?
We especially need you! As a parent, you are the expert
on your child. Your input is invaluable because you have
a perspective no one else can give us.
Being a partner in the USS Project is ALWAYS voluntary.
If for any reason you or your child would like to stop
participating, just notify us. You and your child can
always stop if you feel it is necessary.
What do I do if I move or my phone number changes?
Just email us (school_success@sbcglobal.net),
call us (480-727-7791), or drop us a note through your
child's school. Staying in touch is VERY important to
us, so we try to keep our records as up to date as possible!

us" page!
What if my child is sick and cannot make it?
Sometimes families come visit USS researchers on campus.
If for any reason you cannot make it to your visit, call
480-727-7791 and ask for Francisco Palermo. When the time
comes for your visit, you will receive a letter that will
give you more specific instructions!
Will the information I provide be kept confidential?
Absolutely! We value the information you share with us
and are dedicated to keeping it confidential. Identification
numbers are often used instead of names, and no information
will be released about your child without your permission.
In fact, the information we have about your child is combined
and averaged with all of the other children in the USS
project to get a better idea about what is true for most
children--therefore your information cannot be seperated
from other participants' information.
Who will have access to the information I provide?
Only the trained researchers will have access to this
information--and the information you provide is protected
with a code number so that your name is not linked to
specific information. After the information is collected,
it is kept in a locked space in our offices to insure
confidentiality.
