Past Programs: What SREP 2008 Student Are Saying

“The SREP Program was a truly academically enriching experience for me. The training we were given allowed me to learn about all aspects of research. I was given the freedom to explore my area of interest with my faculty mentor and was able to attend seminars that gave me a clearer perspective of my future. The graduate mentors were extremely supportive and approachable, giving me the confidence and guidance I needed to succeed in the program as well as in the future.”

“When I first arrived at ASU for the summer internship I really had no idea what to expect; yet I never could have imagined that it would be as valuable as it was. I had the opportunity to be a part of a lab, work with faculty and graduate students, and leave with a sense of accomplishment. I have been attending graduate school preparation lectures since my freshman year, but I still learned a wealth of information that I have never even heard before. Most importantly, I felt respected and valued as a student. I would encourage any interested student to definitely apply to the SREP Program, because I am certain it will be an experience you will never forget!”

“I was able to grow so much in many ways. It was a taste of grad school and I was able to mature in so many ways. Academically, I had a wonderful opportunity to research something that was completely relevant and important to me. The grad instructors and mentors were always willing to help, and my faculty mentor was awesome!! I learned so many things about grad school and was able to confirm once again, not only that grad school is something that I want to do, but also that I am fully capable of doing. If one of your goals was to empower us, "lo lograste!" SREP is part of the reason that I definitely feel that I will be able to enter grad school and be ready for it once I get there. Socially, it opened up a lot of networks at ASU, and taught us how to manage our networks in the future. Personally, it challenged me to grow away from my hometown context.”
