Broadly, my research explores the intersection of
family, work, gender, and race/ethnicity. I am currently working
on several projects. The first set of projects focuses on predictors
of marital satisfaction, measured as marital happiness, perceived
fairness in the division of labor, and sexual frequency using the
National Survey of Families and Households (NSFH). The second set
of projects examines the intergenerational transmission of marital
conflict using data from the NSFH and focus groups. We are exploring
the effects of parental conflict on adult children’s relationships
with their parents and with romantic partners. A third set of projects
centers on time use among youth, including the time they spend
in paid work, housework, and extracurricular activities; and how
participation vary by family structure, gender, race, and regional
residence. Prior research has centered on couple-level analyses
of perceptions of fairness in the household division of labor and
predictors of divorce.
