I am in the PhD program in Sociology. I have a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master in sociology. My area of interest is in Demography and Migration. I am particularly interested in the education of immigrant children and in unaccompanied minors (that is children that migrate alone). I am currently working on two projects, the LEE (Languages and Educational Excellence/Lenguaje y Exito Escolar) project which looks at how bilingualism in language minority (LM) Head Start students affects social, behavioral, and cognitive competence and the other project looks at how migration effects Central American families (in Phoenix, AZ) when parents/children are separated.
