Important Terms:

Open enrollment - enrollment at a public school of choice rather than compulsory assignment to a particular school because of where one lives.

Boundary/attendance exception - option of sending child to a school district outside of your designated area. It is important to check with district guidelines and regulations for such transfers as each school system has their own.
