The expanding Arabic Studies program at Arizona State University is equipped to offer undergraduate students interested in Arabic language acquisition instruction in Modern Standard Arabic through the 400 level in all four crucial language components: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The Certificate in Arabic Studies Program that we offer is very competent with diverse Arabic and interdisciplinary courses. In addition, we offer a Study Abroad program to Jordan. Advanced students may-in their third year and beyond, choose among courses more closely focused on conversational skills and vocabulary development, or those directed toward enhancing reading and writing abilities and may continue on to pursue an independent study component. Our program of studies also includes course offerings in both Classical and contemporary Arabic literature, Arabic culture, and religion. The associated Certificate in Arabic Studies is interdisciplinary in nature and affords students the opportunity to tailor their interests within a coherent framework of language and culture, Literature, religion, and history. This key area of study in a critical language is experiencing rapid growth as we prepare students to engage and communicate with the Arab world. Note: Students may also choose to pursue a related certificate in Islamic Studies with an Arabic language component.
