Duties and Responsibilities

Directs the administrative functions and services for the School of Human Evolution and Social Change. Works closely with the Director of the School and the executive committee to ensure effective and timely support services. This position works with little supervision to direct the work of the administrative staff and is the primary contact to solve problems as they arise.

Examples of tasks include:

Provide leadership and direct work activities of staff
Serve as administrative liaison to the School’s centers and institutes
Supervise staff functions to ensure performance
Oversee the front office which includes reception, mail distribution and telephone inquiries and general customer service.
Oversee student services function to promote advising and student engagement
Building maintenance
Assist in space needs, renovation and coordinates office moves
Ensure communication flow w/in the school
Participate on internal and external committees
Act as liaison with Dean’s office for administrative functions
Special projects assigned by the Director.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and six (6) years of related administrative experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR,Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

 

Experience in: supervising staff; giving attention to detail; track multiple projects simultaneously; team leader; project management; MS office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Oultook); Peoplesoft. Demonstrated knowledge web software and databases.
