Exhibitions People Were Here (Ongoing) At the Deer Valley Rock Art Center, you can explore evidence of past human activity and learn about its connection to life in the 20th century. The petroglyphs and the hillside have continuing significance for Native American people of this region. The marks link people to traditions of migration and occupation in the area. Some of the petroglyphs are connected to the religious teachings of different tribes today.
Land of Fire, House of the Sun: Award-Winning Rock Art PhotographyExhibit runs to September 1, 2008 The Center presents a new exhibition showcasing award-winning photo-essays of California rock art. The American Rock Art Research Association has given the prestigious Oliver Award to artists Alain Briot and Rick Bury for their outstanding photography. Guided ToursSummer Twilight Tours guided by Desert Little Bear!Join our Public Educator, Desert Little Bear, for a tour of the Deer Valley Rock Art Center's spectacular rock art. The Center has the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Phoenix Valley! Desert Little Bear is happy to answer your questions about desert wildlife, birds, insects, plants and Native American cultures. The Deer Valley Rock Art Center’s gift store, the Glyph Shop, sells a superb array of art, souvenirs and gift items. Come check us out and see what treasures can be found in the Glyph Shop! Summer Camps Do your kids like to explore, dig in the dirt, collect clues and create? Deer Valley Rock Art Center offers a one-week action-packed camp for children ages 8 to 11. Camp Petroglyph brings the past to life with discovery. Some themes include desert animals and insects, botany and native gardening, archaeology and cultural anthropology. Campers will explore these topics through hands-on educational activities, crafts, storytelling, games, hikes and much more! June 2nd through 6th: Summer Camp Session I June 16th through 20th: Summer Camp Session II Camps are Monday through Friday, 8am-3pm. Camp size is limited to 20 children – so call to register today!
