The Dean's Circle Scholarship

Description:
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Circle awards scholarships to undergraduate students on an annual basis. Departments and programs within the college administer the application process. The scholarships are funded through membership donations to the Dean's Circle.
Minimum Criteria:
- The Dean's Circle Department Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship for the fall semester, to be awarded by an academic unit to one undergraduate student who meets the following criteria.
- Must have a declared major in the CLAS department or program. Departments may elect to require a specific class standing (e.g. junior standing).
- Minimum of 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Departments may elect to require a higher grade point average.
- Financial need may be considered by the department, but is not a requirement. This scholarship award may affect a student's financial aid package from ASU. The impact will be minimized if the recipient is selected by the February 25 prior to the fall semester.
- Selection to occur prior to the end of the spring semester for award in the following fall semester – recommended deadline for selection is February 25.
- No residency requirement.
- A student in a concurrent degree program may be a candidate in both departments. However, the student may accept only one departmental scholarship.
- Students receiving the scholarship one year may reapply in a future year.
Selection Process:
- - Selection will be based upon the scholarship application, academic record, quality of essay, and one recommendation letter.
- - Application and essay must be typed. Essays should be no longer than one written page.
- - In a one-page essay, please describe your academic goals and why you selected this major/discipline.

The application form is available on the Department Web Site and at the Department of Political Science Department, Lattie F. Coor Hall, Room 6742. The deadline for the submission of applications is February 25, 2009.
