The Annual Competititon
for the
Behringer Scholarship
This $1,000 undergraduate research scholarship endowment was generously established by ASU Alumnus Ken Behringer, ‘74 B.A., ’78 JD, ’88 MBA, to support scholarships for political science students in the Department of Political Science, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, ASU Tempe campus. The scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate interested in pursuing a research project. Students are encouraged, but not required, to conduct research related to the Arizona legislature. Applicants must submit a one page research proposal and a letter of support from a faculty member of the Political Science department who will also supervise the research during the academic year. Please identify the type of research you intend to do, and explain how you and the ASU faculty member working with you will proceed in carrying out your research (limit one typed page). The research proposal should include such information as your research question(s), hypothesis, research design, and a timeline for the spring semester and the fall semester.
To be considered for the scholarship, you must (a) be an undergraduate major in political science, (b) have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA, (c) be a resident of Arizona, (d) submit a one page research proposal described above, (e) submit a letter of support from a faculty member who also agrees to supervise the research.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the quality of the research proposal and the applicant’s academic record.
