International Relations
Faculty interested in foreign policy theory and international security use
event chronologies, institutional differences, archival materials, and
public records to guide comparative analyses of foreign policy decision
making by different types of regimes, case studies of leaders and their
decision-making strategies, state and nation building, nationalism, and
policy analyses of issues in the Asia-Pacific region. Other faculty
emphasize critical theory and international political economy, employing
archival sources, statistical data, and legal norms and state practices
to conduct analyses of global inequalities in wealth and income, the
evolution and statecraft, and the impact of hierarchically-ordered gender
and race categories in North-South relations.
