He became a member of the department in 1989. He received his BA and MA from St. Mary's University and his PhD from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Professor Herrera has contributed articles to the Journal of Politics, Legislative Studies Quarterly, and Public Opinion Quarterly. His current research interests are focused on American political parties and elite political behavior.
