    She joined the ASU faculty in 1990. She received her BA and MA from Arizona State University and PhD from the University of Minnesota. She is the author of Imperial Encounters: Patterns of Representation in North/South Relations (1996) and Anti-Immigrantism in Western Democracies-Statecraft, Desire, and The Politics of Exclusion (2003). Professor Doty has contributed articles to International Studies Quarterly, Review of International Studies, European Journal of International Relations, Security Studies, Alternatives, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, and Millennium-Journal of International Studies. She is the recipient of a Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation grant 1997-1998. Her current research interests include race and international relations, international relations theory, immigration, and the politics of writing.
